Ulverston Festival Masterclasses

Sat & Sun April 16-17
with Murray McLachlan and Kathryn Page
Eccle Riggs, Broughton-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA20 6BN
If you'd like to participate, please e-mail Fiona Butcher: fiona@ulverstonmusicfestival.co.uk

As an important part of our Festival activities, we hold weekends of master classes for amatuer pianists, under the expert tutelage of Anthony Hewitt and a prominent guest pianist.

The master classes give students and amateur pianists the chance to develop their technical skills, knowledge and confidence through working with professional pianists, as well as developing a greater understanding of music. You will have the opportunity to learn and perform new repertoire in front of a small, appreciative audience, and also learn from other pianists’ lessons.

If you are preparing repertoire for an exam and are struggling with a passage in one of your pieces, or if you’d simply like to broaden your pianistic horizons whilst gleaning some unique insights from top international performers, then look no further than us!

We suggest you bring at least two different pieces, one for each tutor, but this is entirely up to you.

Eccle Riggs, the venue, is very special and is set under the shadows of Coniston Old Man in its own beautiful gardens complete with peacocks. Perhaps more importantly, we have the use of two lovely pianos, a Steinway grand and a Kawai grand.

Tea, coffee and scrumptious cakes are served during the day free of charge. Lunch is also available at a reasonable cost.
